Recipient for Best Blues
Society
THE
JAMES S. HENRY YOUTH EXCELLENCE AWARD is named in honor of Detroit Blues
Society Member and friend, Jim Henry who tragically passed
away at the age of 49 in March of 2009. Jim was dedicated to
mentoring young musicians or bands, that he felt, showed a bright
future in the Blues world. Jim would routinely assist them, record
them, give them tutoring, and be a friendly advocate in a very
tough business. This award will be presented at our Awards Ceremony
in January of each calendar year.

ELIGIBILITY
Any Detroit Area
musician or band, under the age of 21, is eligible for
nomination.
PROCESS
1) Nominations can
be made by any Detroit Blues Society member or Detroit
Blues industry insider, for any Detroit Area
musician or band.
2) The nominee(s) must be 21 or under at the time of nomination. In
the case of a band, the MAJORITY of it's members must be 21 or
under at the time of nomination.
3) The nominator must submit the name(s), contact information, a
photo, and a brief biography in order for the nominee to be
eligible for this award.
4) All qualified nominations will be submitted to the Detroit Blues
Society Board of Directors. They will discuss and vote upon the
nominees for selection of the final awardee(s).
DEADLINE
All nominations must
be received by August 1 of each year and can be emailed
